About the role
The role of a Technical Demonstrator combines technical knowledge and innovative thinking with the design and delivery of hardware and software demonstrations to students. The role will work closely with the academic staff who deliver the teaching within the School of Art, Film and Media and also be part of a wider team of Technical Demonstrators and Technicians who provide support for courses across the whole university. This role will be specifically based around location film making so a working knowledge of camera, lighting and audio recording techniques is essential.
About you (requirements)
We are looking for an enthusiastic and resourceful individual with experience in location sound recording in Film and TV recording to join our great team of technical demonstrators at Bath Spa University. You will be working with the Film and Television BA, supporting the students of all years on primarily the single camera modules but also the studio modules. With help from the technical team, you will also demonstrate the operation of stills and video cameras, lighting kit and editing software. You will get to work with other students outside of the FTV course as well, including Commercial music, Creative Media, Dance, Drama and Acting. Other duties may involve the production of written and filmed instructional resources for the technical team website. Previous experience in the film and television industry is essential and teaching in higher education is recommended. Desirable software skills include Adobe Premiere Pro, DaVinci Resolve, Pro Tools, Avid Media composer.
