About the role
We are looking for a talented Lecturer in Biology to join our team. The successful applicant will contribute expertise in ecology, conservation or environmental science, plus deliver related core Biology topics to undergraduate programmes such as Biology, Environmental Science and Wildlife Conservation. The role includes teaching, assessment, planning and development of modules, providing study support and dissertation supervision for students, as well as pastoral tutorial support when required.
About you (requirements)
You will have an ecology/conservation/environmental science or related first degree and a postgraduate degree in a relevant subject area along with some recent experience of teaching within Higher Education. In addition to expertise in ecology and the environment you will have knowledge and expertise that could be applied to core areas of Biology across all undergraduate levels. You will also have experience of and/or an ability to contribute to research methods (including statistical analysis) teaching and evidence of relevant research or professional experience. You may also have professional or industrial experience in your field, and ideally experience of short course/CPD skills delivery.
You should be willing and able to teach in the field (including on residential field courses), in the laboratory, in the classroom and online. You will be expected to contribute to additional activities such as involvement with open days and public events, building appropriate links with external organisations and the community and you will be involved in assessment moderation and other quality assurance processes. You will enjoy full access to staff development opportunities offered by the University.
