About the roleThis is an opportunity to join an outstanding department that has played a pioneering role in the development of Creative Writing as a university discipline in the UK.The School of Writing, Publishing & the Humanities recognises creative work as a form of research and sees teaching and practice-based research as mutually supporting activities. Our four MA courses have an outstandingly good record of encouraging and supporting students towards publication; our undergraduate programmes have provided the foundation for writing in a wide range of professional contexts; our PhD programme in Creative Writing is one of the largest in the UK. All our courses are taught by published writers and enhanced through links with the industry.We run highly successful and well-regarded courses in Creative Writing at Undergraduate, Postgraduate, and PhD levels, with work spanning fiction and non-fiction, poetry and the spoken word, nature writing and travel writing, scriptwriting, and writing for children and young adults. We offer complementary courses in Publishing and Journalism. We share modules with the MA in Environmental Humanities, and are beginning to explore options for short courses and for greater collaboration with other disciplines.About you (requirements)You will have a reputation as a well-published poet, with knowledge of the current state of contemporary poetry both in the UK and internationally: its trends, its protocols and developments. You will also have experience of supporting others in the creation of their own work, ideally in higher education, and a commitment to excellent practice in learning and teaching. You will contribute to the development and delivery of undergraduate and postgraduate courses in Creative Writing and continue to publish poetry that both underpins your teaching and supports to the University’s excellent research profile in this field.About usBath Spa University is focused on creativity and professionalism.
