About the role
Bath Spa University works closely with key stakeholder creative and cultural initiatives such as Bath Bridge’s BAHub, BwNES One Shared Vision Creative and Cultural Strand, and the Combined Authority’s Cultural Compact. This post will support the synergising of these key initiatives alongside distilling the perspectives of the public and commercial arts and creative sectors across the full range of the current ecosystem.
Its purpose being to move from connectivity to prioritised collective action, mobilising ‘quick wins’ as the starting point for longer term gains to benefit the City’s diverse communities. This role will be responsible for defining and explicating the relationship between existing major funding opportunities, e.g. ISTART, Fashion Museum relocation, Weston Island, the development of the City’s cultural quarter, collating a cultural action plan for all key stakeholders.
As the project progresses through its outcomes, raising the City’s profile, the post will be responsible for project evaluations that are constructed in alignment with larger scale priorities such as regional and national funding.
About you (requirements)
We are looking for someone with a deep understanding of the creative and cultural sectors, both public realm and commercial. You will be able to work effectively with creative practitioners across disciplines, from single person to micro to SME.
You will display integrity, industry, effectiveness, passion, tact, directness, honesty, a belief in partnership as mutual benefit, realism and pragmatism. You will use these skills to understand a range of partner needs, identify underlying drivers and demands, and find collective shared interests.

The External Affairs Unit functions like a small agency within the University and is responsible for business development, advancement and civic engagement, marketing and communications, reputation management and media liaison. Structured as a matrix, this is a cross-disciplinary, highly integrated team which places a strong emphasis on personal development and purpose.
