About the role
We are looking for published writers with university-level teaching experience to join our team to teach at undergraduate and postgraduate level, and to contribute to the administration of modules and programmes.
About you
You will have experience of university-level teaching, and a demonstrable track record in publishing for children and / or young people, a clear understanding of the market for children’s books, and of the contexts within which children and young people read and make choices about what to read. You will make a key contribution to our highly successful Masters programme in Writing for Young People, and to undergraduate teaching. You will be comfortable in working in interdisciplinary teams, and willing to explore the potential connections between your own areas expertise and those of your colleagues.
About us
Bath Spa University is focused on creative enterprise and guided by our four values of respect, inclusivity, collaboration and sustainability. We teach around 8,000 students on a number of campuses around Bath, with most being located at Newton Park, including a listed Georgian house and grounds, or Locksbrook Road, our new city-centre art and design campus; many of our postgraduate courses are taught at Corsham Court, a Jacobean house in Wiltshire. Our research centres focus on creative industries and humanities.
Our purpose is to challenge our students and staff to realise their talent and thrive, for their own benefit and for the wider good.
Creative Writing at Bath Spa
Creative writing is well-established at Bath Spa University with a large undergraduate programme, which includes combinations with subjects such as Publishing and English Literature, five taught MA programmes and a successful PhD Creative Writing programme.
Our Creative Writing degrees are informed by research, professional practice, and industry links, and combine these with innovative teaching and methods of assessment. We believe in giving our students a high-quality educational experience to enable them to achieve their best work. We offer exceptional opportunities within our courses to help students become highly employable and to gain publication in their chosen area of interest. We are also committed to developing socially-engaged practice, and to exploring the ways in which writing, reading, and enabling others to write can support well-being and contribute to social change.
