About the role
This 15 month fixed-term post supports the final year delivery of the Arts and Humanities Research Council-funded, Creative Industries Clusters Programme, in the Bristol + Bath Creative Research & Development Partnership (B+B Creative R+D).
The Business Development Manager, based in the Centre for Cultural and Creative Industries town-centre space in Bath, The Studio at Palace Yard Mews, will work closely with the B+B Creative R+D partners on business development and will be tasked with maximising inward investment across the project across its last year of activity and reporting.
About you (requirements)
This role will suit an entrepreneur who understands the challenges and opportunities for creative industries business development in the southwest region. The Business Development Manager will be a self-starter who is able to contribute to a broader delivery team, with an understanding of the triple bottom line approach to investment: social, cultural, and economic. The BDM will have a working knowledge of business development in Bath and Bristol or similar region and will be excited by the prospect of taking on our existing portfolio of projects as well as developing new international work.

About B+B Creative R+D
B+B Creative R+D is designed to improve the performance of the Creative Industries in the Bristol & Bath region. Based in Bath, the Business Development Manager will work closely with partners on the delivery of a collaborative research and business development programme for the creative industries.
The partners are UWE, Bristol, and the Universities of Bath, Bristol and Bath Spa, and Watershed. The cluster will work with a range of industry partners across Digital Placemaking, Expanded Performance, and Amplified Publishing, as well as a range of projects that use creative and immersive technologies.
The B+B Creative R+D Partnership will support its business partners in finding new ways to engage the audiences of the future in new market places. Our R&D-led productions will lead the cluster into the future, engaging with emergent technologies, boosting inward investment and developing a new talent base to lead the cluster's creative industries over the next ten years. Examples of projects already underway include With You, a digital messaging service for isolated hospital patients, and a spatialised light and sound tool for co-creation, Circle. Our core proposition is partnering with industry to understand user engagement in new platforms. We are mobilising the cluster research base to support businesses in improving their performance through projects that exploit the new relationships between content type, acquisition format, format parameters, coding artefacts, user environment and engagement.
